Day 3 Comes to a Close with Max Silver on Top

• Nivel 18: 3,000-6,000, 500 ante
Max Silver Leads the Field
Max Silver Leads the Field

On Friday, Day 3 of the 2014 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event came to a close with around 76 players remaining from the 1,031 who originally came out to play. At the end of the day, it was Max Silver who bagged up the biggest stack in the room with 1.453 million.

Right on Silver's heels is Roger Teska, who bagged up 1.406 million which is good for second in chips. Interestingly enough, Teska will begin Day 4 with a one round penalty. Toward the end of the night, Teska was seen making lewd gestures at cameras held by the television crew. When Teska remarked that he would just show up late to play tomorrow, tournament staff quickly informed him that his penalty would begin when he arrived.

While Silver will sport the largest stack in the field, other notable players managed to bob and weave their way through the field to survive heading into Day 4. Notable players who made it through Day 3 include Kyle Sorel (1,132,000), Shyam Srinivasan (811,000), Sam Greenwood (768,000), Antoine Saout (668,000), Matt Berkey (607,000), Jennifer Shahade (457,000) Loni Harwood (394,000), Mike McDonald (355,000), Paul Berende (191,000), and Ismael Bojang (99,000).

Also alive and thriving is PokerStars Team Pro Vanessa Selbst. Hot off of her third-place finish for $760,640 in the $100,000 Super High Roller, Selbst is seemingly on fire as she makes yet another deep run in the Main Event. Seated at the feature table for the majority of the day, Selbst made work of her foes and slowly built up to one of the top stacks in the field.

In one notable confrontation, Selbst raised to 8,500 at 2,000/4,000/500. Patricio Rojas called from the hijack and it folded around to David "ODB" Baker in the big blind. He announced an all in three-bet for 119,000 and Selbst wasted little time moving all in over the top. Rojas quickly got out of the way and the hands were turned over.

Selbst: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Baker: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

The flop came down {3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and kept Selbst's ladies in the lead. Fourth street was the {j-Spades}, which left Baker searching for one of the two remaining eights to stay alive in the tournament. Unfortunately for Baker, it was Selbst who made a set on the river when the {q-Clubs} struck the felt. Baker found elimination and Selbst was able to pad her stack with his chips. The Team Pro finished the day with 911,000 in chips.

Selbst isn't the only member of Team PokerStars still alive, though. Those returning for Day 4 include Marc-Andre Ladouceur (416,000), Angel Guillen (322,000), Marcel Luske (320,000), and Liv Boeree (115,000).

Today saw the field hit the money, as the top 151 players were guaranteed a payday. Many notable faces fell once the money was reached. The likes of Ole Schemion (144th), Antonio Esfandiari (140th), Keven Stammen (120th), 2010 PCA champion John Dibella (106th), Sam Cohen (105th), 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Greg Merson (98th), and Maria Ho (85th) are just a small sample size of those to fall in the money.

Team PokerStars members to fall in the money include Leo Margets (143rd), Jason Mercier (142nd), Caio Pessagno (115th), and George Danzer (109th).

Play will resume at 12 p.m. local time on Saturday where the field will return to the beautiful Atlantis Resort in an attempt to clinch a spot at the final few tables. Be sure to keep your browsers locked here on PokerNews for all of the latest updates from the tournament floor!

Bagging and Tagging

[user101598] • Nivel 18: 3,000-6,000, 500 ante

Play has concluded for the evening. The survivors are now bagging and tagging, and we will have assorted counts shortly.

Karim KO'd

[user101598] • Nivel 18: 3,000-6,000, 500 ante

A short-stacked Zo Karim moved all in from the small blind with {k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, and Jorgen Sandvoll Lindebo called in the big blind with {a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

The {q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop changed very little, and Karim was drawing dead when the {a-Hearts} turned. A meaningless {3-Clubs} completed the board, and Karim hit the rail.

With the board reading {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, Roger Teska and Patryk Slusarek checked to Shyam Srinivasan who bet 19,000. Teska check-raised to 64,000, Slusarek folded, and Srinivsan reraised to 150,000. Teska called after a few moments, landing the {A-Diamonds} turn.

Teska check-called 160,000 from Srinivasan, the {4-Spades} river completed the board, and both checked.

Teska tabled {A-Spades}{10-Clubs} for tens full of aces, besting Srinivasan's hand to win the pot.

"Never Give Up Hope!"

• Nivel 18: 3,000-6,000, 500 ante

Jose Pineda just ended up all in for his tournament life and he was in great shape against Patricio Rojas.

Rojas showed {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} and hit a set right away on the {4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{2-Hearts} against Pineda's {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}.

"Oh no," Pineda sighed as he started calling for a seven.

On the turn the {J-Hearts} hit and the river brought the {7-Clubs} Pineda was hoping for.

"YEAAAAAH!" Pineda screamed off the top of his lungs while many of his opponents celebrated for him as well.

"Why is there no TV crew for this?" Loni Harwood jokingly said, as Pineda broke out into singing Destiny's Child's Survivor.

Pineda locked up a double up with just minutes left before the day was done while Rojas took a little hit.

"Never give up hope!" Pineda finally shouted as he sat back down and stacked his newly won chips.

"Not Enough"

[user101598] • Nivel 18: 3,000-6,000, 500 ante

Andrei Konopelko moved all in for 111,000 in early position, and the action folded all the way to Kyle Sorel in the big blind.

"Call," he said excitedly, showing {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}.

Konopelko shook his head before showing {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}.

The flop fell {j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{10-Spades}, giving Konopelko an open-ended straight draw, but the {10-Spades} on the turn took away two of his outs. Not realizing the paired board removed his ace outs, Konopelko still celebrated when the {a-Hearts} completed the board, until he realized it gave Sorel a full house.

"Not enough," Sorel said, smiling.

Konopelko was off to the payout desk, while Sorel soared to 1.115 million chips.

Angel Guillen

Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen is doing quite nicely here on Day 3 as he just managed to chip up some more with only 30 minutes left in the day.

Rudy Blondeau, who's doing even better than Guillen, raised from the cutoff to 13,000 to start off the action. Guillen three-bet from the button to 36,000 and Blondeau made the call.

The flop brought out {2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Blondeau check-called 32,000. On the turn the {5-Hearts} hit and this time Blondeau check-folded to a 64,000-chip bet.

Bussman Busts Balla

[user101598] • Nivel 18: 3,000-6,000, 500 ante

Norman Balla was all in and at risk for what looked like 120,000 holding {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}, but unfortunately he was crushed by Adrian Bussman's {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}.

The aces held up as the flop, turn, and river came {8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades}, eliminating Balla.

Bussman is up to 570,000 chips.
