After many players had a day off on Sunday with no new tournaments starting, today is sure to be an action-packed day as Event #10: $1,500 No-Limit Holdem / Six Handed is starting today!

Last year, Carter Phillips outlasted a huge field of 1,663 players to pocket $482,774. This year's field looks to be just as daunting, as the staff is planning to use the entire Pavilion and a section of the Amazon Room to seat all of the runners.

The tournament is scheduled to start at 12 pm local time (GMT -7), and Pokernews will be bringing you all of the action. As soon as the tournament starts, we will let you know what famous faces are in the field, and we anticipate that it will be a longgg list. Enjoy the action, and thanks for following along with us!

Shuffle Up and Deal!

Nivel 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel has given the order and the cards are in the air! At the moment, there are quite a few tables that are lacking players, but we have been advised that at least five players are paid up for each one, with late registrations being taken until the end of the fourth level.

It's going to be a big day today - this tournament is covering almost the entire Pavillion Room and the orange section of the Amazon Room! "We're going to break another record today - I can feel it!" Effel said.

Akkari's Already Up

Andre Akkari
Andre Akkari

A quick trek through the black section of the Pavillion Room has revealed the presence of two Team PokerStars Pros - Costa Rican sharkboy Humberto Brenes (who is on Table 30) and Brazilian phenom Andre Akkari, who's already taken down a pot over on Table 37.

The action folded to Akkari, who raised to 75 from the cutoff. The player in the big blind called, so it was heads-up to the flop of {10-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{A-Hearts}.

The big blind check-called Akkari's bet of 125 after the flop, then did the same for Akkari's bet on the turn of the {J-Clubs} before the dealer produced the {6-Diamonds} on the river.

The big blind checked, and Akkari fired out a third shell worth 1,700, sending the big blind into the tank for over two minutes before he reluctantly let his hand go. Akkari is now up to over 5,000 in chips.

Already Some Stirring

Nivel 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

A player seated at Table #57 in Pavilion White just stood up and yelled over to Matt Stout, who is seated at Table #51 in Seat 1. The player yelled, "You got all that money 'cause you're a Lock pro and they don't pay people money, right!?!? They never pay people and you just keep it, right!?!? How much do you get paid!?!?"

Stout didn't say a word back. In fact, he didn't really even acknowledge the player and just kept doing what he's doing, playing poker.

Yamada's Lovin' Life

Derek Yamada

Another walkabout around the black section of the Amazon revealed that Eddy Sabat, Erik Cajelais and Melanie Weisner have now taken their seats.

Derek Yamada is all by himself over on Table #33. The former college student and safety equipment salesman from Sacramento, CA doubled his starting stack to 9,000 after eliminating his only original tablemate.

Yamada told us he held {7-}{6-} on a {K-}{8-}{4-}{9-}{10-} board and all the money went in on the river. "I guess he couldn't fold," he said before new players came in from a broken table.

We've also just spotted Kristy Gazes making her late arrival, as well as Maria Ho, fresh from her runner-up finish in the $5,000 No Limit Hold'em event last night.

One for Evdakov

Nivel 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

Nikolay Evdakov raised to 75 from the button and the player in the small blind made the call to see the flop come down {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. The small blind checked and Evdakov also checked.

The turn brought the {8-Diamonds} and the small blind bet 125. Evdakov raised to 350 and won the pot.
