Day 2 of the $3,000 Limit Hold’em event at the 2011 World Series of Poker is set to begin in just about a half hour. The surviving 163 players of a 337-player field will return today in the race for the money and to claim their share of a $920,010 prize pool. Marco Traniello will start the day as chip leader with 54,000 (It is not Markus Herbel who listed his stack at over 70,000 but actually has just over 10,000).
There are also a few others with more-than-average chip stacks including Victor Ramdin (44,000), Casey McCarrel (42,000), Tobin Banks (41,700), Shawn Buchanan (40,200), Nicholas Grippa (36,900), and “Crazy” Mike Thorpe (36,400). They’ll all be joined by a hodgepodge of pros with varying chip stacks such as Shaun Deeb (36,900), Jeff Shulman (33,400), Matt Glantz (29,000), Justin Bonomo (24,300), Dwyte Pilgrim (22,500), Maria Ho (22,000), and Jason Mercier (19,500), just to name a few.
The plan for the day is to play to a final table, but we can tell you that the chances of that happening are slim to none. Instead, we’re shooting to crack the money bubble with the top 36 players being paid as follows:
1st- $220,817
2nd- $136,419
3rd- $100,198
4th- $74,171
