Brummel Pummeled

Nivel 18 : 2,500-5,000, 0 ante

A short-stacked David Brummel raised all in for his last 8,000 from middle position and Jason Rivkin isolated with a raise to 13,000.

Brummel: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Rivkin: {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Brummel got it in good and was in ok shape on the {9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, though Rivkin paired his three and picked up a flush draw. The {J-Diamonds} turn was o no consequence, but the {3-Spades} river was as it gave Rivkin trip threes and the win. Brummel was a gracious loser by shaking hands with his opponent and wishing the table good luck before making his way to the payout desk.

Meanwhile, "Detroit" Al Green has also been eliminated from the tournament.

Beau-doin Work on Brunson

Nivel 18 : 2,500-5,000, 0 ante

Dale Beaudoin has slowly accumulated chips throughout the day, and is now one of the biggest threats in the room after taking a nice pot off Todd Brunson. Beaudoin raised it up in early position, and Brunson was the lone caller, defending his big blind.

Brunson ended up check calling on every street, with the finished board reading {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. After the final call, Beaudoin tabled {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades} for aces up and a seven low. Brunson simply tapped the table, rechecked his cards, and sent them to the dealer.

Zhang Trips Up Ohel

Nivel 17 : 2,000-4,000, 0 ante

Randy Ohel opened with a raise only to have Joe Ford reraise him. Kevin Zhang called from the small blind, Ohel put in the additional bet and it was three-handed action to the {2-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. Zhang checked, Ohel bet and both his opponents called.

When the dealer burned and turned the {5-Clubs}, Zhang took the initiative and bet, which inspired Ohel to call and Ford to fold. Ohel then took a long time before calling a bet on the {10-Clubs} river, and he no doubt regretted it as Zhang turned over the {5-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} for trips. It was good as Ohel simply mucked.

Nivel 17 : 2,000-4,000, 0 ante

Todd Brunson was heads up with another opponent on a {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} flop when we got there. We saw Brunson fired out, and he was raised by his opponent. Brunson called, and the turn brought the {j-Hearts}. Brunson check called this time, and the river was the {6-Clubs}. Both players checked this time, and Brunson showed {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. His opponent showed the {a-Spades} along with a few low cards, and Brunson scooped the pot with his king kicker.

Quad Queens for Kelly

Nivel 17 : 2,000-4,000, 0 ante
Matthew Kelly
Matthew Kelly

On Day 1 we told you about Matt Kelly and how he had made several Day 2s thus far at the 2013 World Series of Poker only to fall short of the money each and every time. Thankfully, Kelly has broken that streak here today. Not only that, he's on a bit of a heater that could see him make a deep run.

In a recent hand, Kelly limped from middle position only to have Great Britain's Kim Sherlin raise it from the small blind. John Monnette then made it three bets from the big, two calls followed and the flop came down {q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

Sherlin checked, Monnette bet and once again two calls were made. When the {Q-Diamonds} turn put three queens on the board, action checked to Kelly and he bet. Sherlin got out of the way, Monnette called and the dealer put out the {K-Diamonds} on the river. Monnette check-called a bet and Kelly proudly tabled the {q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Spades}. Monnette took another look back at his hand, which someone indicated had aces, and then sent them to the muck.

Andy Frankenberger
Andy Frankenberger

Four players each put in 16,000 preflop and took a flop of {7-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Randy Ohel and Christopher Meyer checked from the small and big blind respectively, and Don Yucius committed his last 2,000. Andy Frankenberger then raised to 6,000, Ohel folded and Meyer reraised to 10,000. Frankenberger didn't have much more than that and called off.

Frankenberger: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Meyer: {a-Spades}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Yucius: {2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

The {2-Spades} turn and {Q-Hearts} river completed the board, and when the dust settled it was Meyer scooping the side pot to eliminated Frankenberger in 61st place, and Yucius chopping the main pot with Meyer to keep his tournament hopes alive.

She was call again on the turn, which was the {4-Hearts}. The {k-Diamonds} hit the river, and this time, Ho checked Her opponent did as well, and Ho announced "two pair", showing {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} of clubs in her hand for bottom two. It was no good though, as her opponent showed {9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{a-Diamonds} for a better two pair.

Bill Chen

We caught up with the action on the turn on a board reading {4-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{a-Diamonds}. Bill Chen had gotten the rest of his chips in and was called by Thomas Besnier.

"I've just got ace-king," Chen admitted before showing the {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. Besnier then tabled the {a-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Hearts} for two pair, a spade draw and a made low. In other words, Chen was in trouble.

The dealer burned one last time and put out the {6-Spades}. It made Besnier the said flush, but he didn't need it as Chen failed to improve. Chen was eliminated in 63rd place.
